ELL Quick Wins for Middle School Content Area Teachers LIMITED

This session is designed to equip middle school teachers with practical, easy-to-implement strategies to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in their classrooms. Focusing on quick wins that can be applied immediately, this session will help content area teachers foster a more inclusive and effective learning environment for their ELL students. Teachers will leave with actionable tools and strategies that promote language acquisition, engagement, and content understanding. For those who have been in an ELL Quick Win session already this year, this session will have similar content but with fresh, new examples of what these strategies might look like in your classroom.

Novel Busting Workshop LIMITED

This workshop time will be devoted to developing standards-aligned novel units following the "novel busting" methods described in the book No More Fake Reading. Facilitators will offer support for participants and provide additional resources, tips, and troubleshooting conversations for teachers diving in to prepare rigorous, skills-aligned novel studies. This session is appropriate for ELA teachers and other specialized educators who support students in ELA classrooms. _x000D_1. Create a framework that merges classic novel study with independent reading 2. Create a framework that allows for diversity, choice, and inclusion in student reading selections. 3. Develop standards-aligned novel study units.

Based on the book Dyslexic Writing Strategies for Student Success, this session will explore methods for fostering a supportive environment, enhancing critical writing skills, and providing individualized guidance tailored to the unique writing challenges of secondary students with dyslexia. Teachers will understand the challenges that students with dyslexia face with their writing skills and take away specific strategies to support writers with dyslexia.
