Literacy in the Lab LIMITED

This session will model how literacy can be incorporated into a science classroom. The strategies will be focused on supporting our ELL students but will benefit all students. During this session, teachers will have the opportunity to explore the resources shared and implement into a future lesson.
Objectives
  1. Teachers can identify strategies that support literacy based on a model lesson. 
  2. Teachers can explore resources and modify text to meet the needs of their students. 
  3. Teachers can design a lesson, or portion of a lesson, focused on literacy for an upcoming topic.

First 10 weeks: Starting beginning strings off strong LIMITED
Tuesday February 18, 2025 9:30am - 10:45am CST
This session will focus on how to spend the first 10 weeks of a beginning strings class so that students set up for success, without losing the initial spark - and prepare them for their first concert! Teachers will be able to apply strategies with 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd year orchestra students.

Session will include:
  1. Weekly lesson outlines
  2. Teaching tools 
  3. Tricks to keep them engaged
  4. First concert pieces
